- The client's Assembly Line Control System relied on an existing integration subsystem to transport data to and from other manufacturing systems. The subsystem interfaced with 11 internal systems across 60+ data feeds, using four transport mechanisms including MQFT, MFT, FTP, and WebSphere MQ. The objective was to build a stable, reliable, easier-to-test integration platform while maintaining backward compatibility with existing data feed formats.
- Implemented each data feed handler as an Apache Camel route hosted on Red Hat JBoss Fuse 6.3 - all existing integration points analysed and converted to microservices
- Open-source Quartz scheduler integrated for scheduled activities; JAAS authentication (DB and LDAP) implemented for security
- Web console built for configuring and testing Camel routes, managing schedules, and troubleshooting failures
- Platform extended to include events from other manufacturing systems with no coding changes required for connected systems
