Business Challenges

Need to develop the following business functionalities

• An application which should be able to function without Internet access to a centralized database for records synchronization. Once reconnected to the central database, it can then synchronize and backup all the patient files.
• Synchronization of the files is to be done with the PHR(Personal Health Record) card and K-Cabinet software.
• Synchronization with external EMR (Electronic Medical Report) systems
  Implement file security for all the stored files.
• Maintain patient data and facilitate fast retrieval of data on search.
  Document conversion to electronic form(results) – scanning, fax and multi-media

Kumaran Solution

Kumaran Systems assisted to develop the EMR-PHR system in ASP.NET using agile methodology development.

• The application is accessible offline and when reconnected then the current system is synchronized with the central database and the data is updated . The model ensures scalability of the system as connections can be made as needed rather than being fixed.
• The synchronization is done between K-Vault and K-Cabinet so that the data from the card is accessible and in sync with the application K-Cabinet and vice versa .
• The synchronization with external EMR is facilitated through the integration of the application with HL7 -V3 so data as per HL7-V3 standards can be seamlessly read and interpreted to the K-Cabinet application .This is effected for data transfer from the K-Cabinet application to HL7 -V3 also.
• Encryption technology protects the file system thereby restricting the files from being viewed and modified by unauthorized parties.
• Extensible search has been employed thereby making data retrieval faster for view and modification.
• The application provides DICOM (Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine) file preview option for both motion and motionless objects.
